About CV. ABRA

An Indonesian binchotan producer based in Jombang, East Java, supplying restaurants at home and importers abroad since 2018.

Who we are

CV. ABRA has produced binchotan white charcoal since 2018. We started by supplying restaurants in Indonesia and now also ship to buyers in Japan, China, South Korea and Belgium.

We make one thing. Our charcoal is fired from palawan hardwood from Kalimantan in traditional kilns, sorted by length and shape, and packed in 15 kg export cartons. Because production is ours, we can tell you plainly what we can supply, in which grades and when.

Chefs choose binchotan for clean, steady heat. Our job is to make sure the carton that arrives matches the grade that was ordered.

How our binchotan is made

  1. Hardwood selectionPalawan, a dense hardwood from Kalimantan, is chosen and cut to length for the kiln.
  2. Slow carbonisationThe wood is carbonised gradually in a traditional kiln.
  3. High-temperature finishAt the end of the burn the kiln is opened up and the charcoal is fired at about 1,200 °C until it glows. Only about 9 % of the wood's weight remains.
  4. Quenching and sortingThe charcoal is smothered in ash, earth and sand, then sorted by size and packed.
